It’s freezing cold, the snow is turning icey and my car told me it was a chilly -6 this morning so I’m reminiscing over my top festive highlights to warm myself up. Memories of lazy brunches, stodgey food, a lot of puddings and comedy games have really cheered me up! Here’s my run down of Christmas activities:

  • Going to play Quasar at the work Christmas party – apprehension that it was going to be a let down was truly way off – it was brilliant fun! Even the quiet ones in the office showed their competitive edge!
  • Our friends cocktail party – some very creative concoctions were knocked up and playing ‘Lips‘ was great fun – the drunk boys rendition of Tina Turner will definitely be remembered for a long while (and viewed on facebook a lot!)
  • Seeing Stonehenge whilst driving to Wiltshire for boxing day with the Hardwicks
  • Wrapping up like ‘Michelin Man‘ to take the dog on long walks around the various lakes and woods of Milton Keynes
  • Watching loads of DVD’s and films – including my all time classic favourite – Swiss Family Robinson

But my top top highlight (and what I will never forget 2008 for) the best Christmas present ever (yes, even better when I got my first bike aged 9…) a new Yamaha Arius 140 electric piano! The boy really did good! I’ve already spent many hours trying to listen for the digital sound but it really is a clever piece of kit!arius140

I’ve been browsing the Radley site (again) to dream over my favourite handbags. Theres just something about the quirky, whimsical designs which pull on my heart strings of desire and make me want another one. Its not even because I need it as a handbag.

But it does make it so much easier for The boy when its b’day time, to get me a special present, which he already knows I’ll love forever!!

Last year for chrimbo I decided to get my other half something he could do, an activity, a nice day out to enjoy, perhaps together but the pressie definitely had to be nothing practical, boring or indeed useful. So I’m pleased to say that he was chuffed on christmas morning to open a shiny voucher for a Ferrari Sensation at Silverstone. Finally the day came around (had to book in advance you see) and off we went on a slightly cloudy day to the home of British Racing, Silverstone.

It was eerily quite as we drove all the way around the service road around the outside of the main circuit, behind the grandstands, following the curves of Stowe corner and down alongside the Hanger Straight, glimpsing the track briefly now and then, then over the bridge to the experience centre.

Yes there was lots of people (mostly blokes for the experience days with the wives/girlfriends/mums like me getting ready with the camera) and it was a bit of an in-out-off-you-go affair but it was well worth it just to see the smile on my mans face when he got out of the Ferrari 360 he’d just driven 3 laps in around Silverstone.
