Horse-ing around…

The horses in the field next to my office window moved bit closer today. The lush grassy strip between the office and their actual field must have been so tempting for them over the last couple of weeks, finally today they’ve been moved in there for the afternoon (presumably to cut the grass down a bit!). I happen to like animals and horses in particular, so trying to concentrate this afternoon with the soft sounds of grass munching, tail swishing and rather loud neighing was rather difficult!

It does make me feel quite privileged as someone who loves the great outdoors; the wafts and sounds and aromas of country life, to work in such idyllic surroundings!

Watching Desperate Housewives last night I’m enjoying the story line progression of the newest inhabitants of Wisteria Lane, Bob and Lee.

The tongue in cheek, stereotypically exaggerated comments from fellow neighbours have left me chuckling, and pondering the future impact this new couple will have on the peaceful, perfectly symmetrical street. A gay couple in American suburbia? what ever next!

Some fashion advice for Ida perhaps…

The local gym that my other half goes to has got a promotion on this month as a thanks to the members for their patience during the recent renovations.  And the promotion is that a friend can get a free guest pass to use the gym for a week.

So my first night will be tonight, my aim is to do a good 30 mins on the cardio machines (rower/ treadmill/ x-trainer) and maybe some weights, but I’m not a gym kinda girl.  I get so bored and on a nice summer evening I’m much rather be outside (where running is free!) Anyways, fingers crossed that classes are included in the promotion, I’ve always fancied a go at spinning….

The other weekend I said good bye to our much loved Fiat Punto. Although it was only mine for a year, it was the other half’s pride and joy for nearly 6 years before that, so its been with us a long time. Whilst it seems a bit silly to get emotional (I didn’t cry though, well, not this time) over a heap of metal parts, for a car thats been with us this many years theres a lot of memories that go with it.

I think, luckily, I sold it to a nice chap who just wanted it for getting about to and from work and wasn’t going to put a load of miles on it or cover it in spoilers and naff tat. Although its not mine anymore, I still feel some sentiments towards the old girl, she done good for us over the years. Now I can get excited about the new car which arrives in May! yipppeeee,

I’ve been browsing the Radley site (again) to dream over my favourite handbags. Theres just something about the quirky, whimsical designs which pull on my heart strings of desire and make me want another one. Its not even because I need it as a handbag.

58681a.jpgIts because I want to hold onto the soft leather, to run my hands over the embroidery and just enjoy looking at the details and the cute little dog tag. Its not just a bag to me. Its how it makes me feel and I can’t help it!

But it does make it so much easier for The boy when its b’day time, to get me a special present, which he already knows I’ll love forever!!

My other half is quite established in the kitchen now when it comes to special dinners, especially anything curry related. Since getting a curry cookbook for Christmas he’s not looked back, from delicious fragrant curry’s from West India to the dry spices of Goa, we’ve really got a taste for the variety of flavours you experience in a curry.

india.gifAs we’re having some friends over in the week he made a Vindaloo at the weekend, and contrary to popular belief (and English stlye curries) a Vindaloo is not meant to be a blow-your-head-off-chili-  stinky-poo-type curry! My own taste buds are quite sensitive to chili hot spices but the combination of vinegar (Vin) and garlic (aloo) is a pleasant and not too long lasting fire on the tongue sensation.

What I’m really looking forward to is the Green Masala that he’s also made – I’ll have to post up the recipe!
